Vertical Slice Feedback Update #1


Vertical Slice successfully completed despite going through Restricted Movement in our country, we're glad the presentation went smoothly!
The list of feedback below is from our playtest session from Vertical Slice.
We hope to upload our build here to let you all play! We will update on that soon!

Vertical Slice Feedback Update #1:

- longer time for monologue box and door text
- exit to game in pause menu not to main menu
- highlights for hiding spot instead
- cannot pause when hide
- player still walk toward the pause icon
- animation for interactions
- a clearer way of indicating ghost
- kitchen room is hard
- need to balance what to show the player
- props misplaced, looks floating/badly cropped
- animation needs to be smoother (play around with timeline?)
- need to be darker (need playtest)
- 'I should be more careful' statement (depends on how to rephrase)
- no prologue/narrative to say why the journal is what it is
- need to focus on story context
- resize item
- either redesigning the notes for the ghost behaviour or have a help menu
- foreground doors are very hard to see and notice
- continue button forever highlighted when clicked
- hold to pick up items and hide
- redesign for tutorial prompt
- placement of the cupboard in the kitchen (perspective problem)
- black border at the end of first scene
- the faster the heartbeat the nearer the ghost is
- break key when used on door during the haunt
- sound effects for narrative (knock on door after waking up and ghost)
- need checkpoints (focus on saving function)
- can walk when inventory is still open (need to check)
- cursor for hiding spot
- inside part of the shoe is cropped out during idle state
- narrative for the middle door in the 3rd room
- shadows for the rooms need to be revised
- dining room and bridal bed room too near
- some hallways look too similar
- item size stretched
- volum > volume
- light flickering effects for main menu (animation)
- font issue
- gaussian blur to make it less obvious/smoothen it out
- drag box slot tech issue (not center aligned)
- discuss whether to focus change on art or sound 
- character does not move in sync with the camera (maybe it's animation too fast)
- naming the rooms (but will fix the hallway first and playtest)
- walking into the ghost by accident when you change rooms (tutorial part)
- pause menu icon change
- ghost does not appear during tutorial
- will the main character or the ghost change as the game progress? (depends on schedule)
- animation jump from idle to open bag (sprite problem)
- door to altar room hard to see (maybe shift the altar to the right and add the transparent door)
- REVIEW TUTORIAL (OVERHAUL)
- a new ui to 'drop item here'
